Description
Prim-Omega supplies the necessary essential fatty acids; these are fatty acids which the body cannot produce and has to obtain from food. Prim-Omega provides a sophisticated combination of a
highly concentrated Fish Oil preparation (65% EPA and DHA) and a GLA concentrate from two rich vegetable GLA sources: evening primrose and borage. Essential fatty acids in a correct balance are very important for physical and mental health.
Most important characteristics of Prim-Omega:
- Contains 384 mg EPA, 244 mg DHA and 320 mg GLA per capsule
- GLA from evening primrose oil as well as from borage oil
- Contains a significant amount of natural vitamin E to prevent peroxidation within the capsules
- Contains borage oil; absolutely free from toxic pyrrolizidine alkaloids
- Contains purified fish oil low in heavy metals, dioxins and other contaminants
- Contains fish oil from sardines, anchovies and mackerel. No endangered species of fish are used
- The fatty acids in this product are present in the natural triglyceride form and not in the form of fatty acid esters
- The capsules can be stored outside the refrigerator
Use
Take 2 capsules twice daily during or immediately after a meal. Preferably spread your intake evenly throughout the day. The capsule may be opened if experiencing difficulties with swallowing.
Warning
Using high doses of fish oil (more than 5 grams of EPA + DHA per day) increases the chance of getting diarrhoea. Caution is advised for users of anticoagulants (blood thinners). There is an increased risk of internal haemorrhaging when using doses of more than 3 grams of EPA + DHA per day (10 Omega-3 capsules or more). Interactions with regular medication and other natural health products may occur. Please consult an expert about this.
Synergism
Simultaneous use of Vitamin E-400 complex (at least 400 IU per day) is strongly recommended due to the high degree of unsaturation of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. The amount of natural mixed tocopherols in the omega-3 products of Bonusan is sufficient to prevent oxidation from occurring. However, fatty acid oxidation can also occur in the body and hence protection through the simultaneous use of extra vitamin E is strongly recommended.
