Contains solid extract of licorice (Glycyrrhiza glabra) in a base of vegetable glycerin.

The main constituent found in the root is glycyrrhizin. The plant also contains various sugars (14%), starches (30%), flavonoids, saponoids, sterols, amino acids, gums, and essential oil. Glycyrrhizin, stimulates the secretion of the adrenal cortex hormone aldosterone. Glycyrrhizin inhibits an enzyme involved in the metabolism of cortisol and thereby extends the life of the active hormone by a few hours, thus raising the level of cortisol. The enzyme is called 11ß-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase and by its action, licorice gives the adrenals some relief from producing its stress hormones.[1]

This is NOT deglycyrrhizinated licorice (DGL) which is used for stomach health.

Ingredients: Licorice Extract, Glycerine.

Directions for use : As a food supplement, 1/4 teaspoon daily.

Since licorice is used in cases where adrenal output is too low, there is an emphasis on getting enough rest. Sleep is the most important thing to heal the adrenals. Go to bed at the same time every night preferably before 11 pm. Consume high quality protein foods at each meal to support the adrenals, and eat whole, fresh foods, and minimise all forms of refined sugar and carbohydrates. Drink plenty of fresh water, and avoid stimulants of all kinds. Chew food well, and relax when eating.

If pregnant, nursing, or taking prescription drugs, consult your healthcare practitioner prior to use.
Licorice products that include glycyrrhizin may increase blood pressure and cause water retention.[2] Some people are more sensitive to this effect than others. Therefore DO NOT USE with any patient with high blood pressure. Also, monitor blood pressure in any patient taking the licorice. If fluid retention occurs, stop using the licorice.

Keep in a cool, dry place, tightly capped and stored out of reach of children.
