DESCRIPTION
Taurine is a vitamin-B6-dependent metabolic product of the sulphur-containing amino acids cysteine and methionine. The substance resembles amino acids, which it is not, strictly speaking. Taurine was long considered to be a non-essential amino acid because it can be made in the

liver from the amino acids methionine and cysteine. In recent years, however, it became evident that there are indeed circumstances where taurine becomes essential for the human body (conditionally essential nutrient). For example, taurine is essential for babies and young children

as a result of the fast development of their brains.
The intake of taurine through the diet is between 0-400 mg per day and mostly depends on individual dietary habits. Taurine naturally occurs especially in seafood and meat. Taurine is not consumed in any significant amounts by vegans. In case of insufficient intake of sulphur-containing amino acids, the body’s own taurine production will consequently have shortcomings.
Taurine is mainly found in tissues that are required to respond to stimuli; such as the retina and

the muscles of the heart and skeleton. Taurine plays an important role in the stability of cell membranes and thus the maintenance of accurate signal conduction in the nervous system and

for muscle contractions. The heart is electrically very active, and is the largest muscle in the body,

an important area of application of taurine. Following GABA, taurine is the most important inhibiting neurotransmitter in the brain.

Taurine is also beneficial for blood pressure because it obstructs the production of renin. In addition, taurine plays an important role in the bile acid synthesis as well as in cleansing.

Most important features of Taurine 600 mg:

  • Contains as much as 600 mg pure crystalline taurine
  • Taurine is especially important for vegetarians and vegans
  • Entirely vegetarian product

USE
Take 1 to 3 capsules daily during or immediately after a meal. Preferably spread your intake evenly throughout the day. The capsule may be opened if experiencing difficulties with swallowing.

WARNING
It is possible that taurine stimulates the secretion of gastric acid. Caution is advised for people suffering from stomach ulcers. Taurine (1.5 grams per day) can cause nausea, headache, drowsiness and coordination problems in epileptic patients. Interactions with regular medication

and other natural health products may occur. Please consult an expert about this.

SYNERGISM
The amino acid cysteine and vitamin B6 are the most crucial cofactors in the synthesis of taurine. Supplementation with NAC 600 mg is a good way to support the endogenous biosynthesis of taurine. Besides taking this product it is also recommended to follow a healthy diet, as well as

taking a basic supplementation of Multi Vital Forte, Vitamin C-1000 Ascorbate Complex and Omega-3 liquid (or Omega-3 capsules).
