Pure Encapsulations

Pure Encapsulations

For nearly 30 years, Pure Encapsulations have been researching, developing, and delivering high-quality hypoallergenic natural health supplements. They are a market-leader committed to sourcing pure, premium ingredients and, as the name suggests, their products are pure, containing no:

  • Wheat and gluten
  • Egg
  • Peanuts
  • Coatings and shellacs
  • GMOs
  • Magnesium stearate
  • Trans fats and hydrogenated oils
  • Artificial colors, flavors and sweeteners
  • Unnecessary binders, fillers and preservatives.

All Pure Encapsulation supplements are formulated with premium raw ingredients and undergo third-party laboratory testing to ensure each ingredient and final product meet rigorous safety, purity, potency, and quality standards.

How can you be sure that these claims stand up to scrutiny? Unlike some supplements manufacturers, Pure Encapsulations have certifications and accreditations including NSF-GMP registration in the U.S., GMP certification in Canada, and their products exceed the standards expected of the United States Pharmacopeia (USP). They also maintain an ‘open plant’ policy, whereby any customer or interested party can inspect their manufacturing facility without notice, showing they have nothing to hide and everything to show off with pride.

Indeed, Pure Encapsulations are so committed to producing pure and potent products that all manufacturing takes place in temperature, humidity and dust-controlled rooms, with every piece of equipment dismantled and sterilized before each production run. That means every scale, mill, blender, powder filler, encapsulating machine and capsule counter gets the full treatment to ensure strict hygiene and purity standards. The Pure Encapsulations warehouse is also climate controlled in order to maximize the stability of raw materials and finished products.

And, once the final product is ready, the company engages certified independent laboratories to test each batch. These third-party labs use High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) and Gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC-MS) to isolate and identify every part of product’s mixture, as well as microbiological testing to assess purity and safety.

Raw materials are tested for identity, potency, microbial contaminants, heavy metals (including mercury, arsenic, cadmium and lead), 32 solvent residues, and allergens, while herbal ingredients are also tested for 70 different pesticide compounds. As for fish oil and essential fatty acids, these are tested for dioxins, furans, polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), and other undesirable contaminants.

Pure Encapsulations really go that extra mile to ensure purity. For example, they not only require statements from every supplier certifying that raw materials do not contain genetically modified organisms (GMOs), they also carry out their own polymerase chain reaction (PCR) testing to confirm the absence of GMOs. And, as for gluten, Pure Encapsulations have received gluten-free certification from the Gluten-Free Certification Organization (GFCO), an internationally recognised entity.

Then, so you know exactly what’s in the products you’re using, Pure Encapsulations make sure to list all ingredients on the label, including the composition of raw materials alongside standardisations of herbal extracts where relevant. Again, unlike many other supplement manufacturers, Pure Encapsulations list the elemental weight of minerals included in their formulas. This means that you can always tell how much of a mineral is truly present, regardless of whether it is chelated or bound in some other way. For minerals like magnesium, calcium, and zinc, this can make a big difference.

Pure Encapsulations are also heavily invested in clinical research and only use compounds in their formulas that have been validated through scientific methods for potency and clinical efficacy. All of their formulas are research-driven and created in collaboration with those on the front line of the healthcare industry, thanks to input from Pure Encapsulations’ experienced and active medical advisory board.

For decades, the company has partnered with leading academic and research institutions including Stanford University, Cleveland Clinic, and The Institute for Functional Medicine to carry out meaningful clinical trials. For example, Pure Encapsulations were involved in a 5-year, multi-million dollar research program investigating cardiometabolic health with the Institute of Nutraceuticals and Functional Foods.

In addition to providing evidence-based, pure, and potent formulas for use by healthcare practitioners in the U.S., Canada, and Europe, Pure Encapsulations are also engaged in social outreach via their Pure Giving programme. This side of the business supports local and global organisations in enhancing quality of life for individuals around the world, including by supporting SOS Children’s Villages in Peru and Vitamin Angels, a non-profit founded in 1994 to provide lifesaving vitamins to mothers and young children at risk of malnutrition and associated conditions such as blindness and infant and maternal mortality.

So, if you’re looking for a brand that really takes purity to heart, Pure Encapsulations are hard to beat.
