DESCRIPTION
Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) is an organically bound form of sulphur in which two methyl groups
are linked to a sulphur atom. This makes MSM a supplier of sulphur as well as of methyl groups. Together with calcium, magnesium, potassium, sodium and phosphor, sulphur belongs to the
macrominerals, minerals that the body needs large amounts of on a daily basis. In spite of this, it is
one of the most underrated minerals. There still is no RDA (Recommended Daily Allowance) for sulphur. Bathing in sulphur-rich hot springs, often of volcanic origin, was already a popular activity in ancient times because of the many health-promoting effects. Many modern health resorts also appear to
use water rich in sulphur compounds. MSM has a very low molecular weight and is therefore easily absorbed by the skin. Sulphur can be found in food, but not in significant amounts; most of it is lost during food preparation. As we grow older it becomes more important to replenish the amount of sulphur in the body.
Sulphur from MSM is part of important amino acids and of almost all protein. Collagen synthesis is
very much dependent on sufficient amounts of sulphur. Sulphur maintains the disulfide bridges, which give structure and elasticity to tissue. That is also why MSM is beneficial for the connective tissue of
the skin and the protection of the skin against aging. Sulphur bridges promote flexible cell membranes allowing the transport proteins to do their job properly. MSM enhances the proper permeability of
cell membranes.
MSM helps to maintain supple muscles and joints. It promotes the buffering function of cartilage. Additional sulphur from MSM also supports the cleansing of the liver; sulphur is part of the peptides cysteine and glutathione, which are important for that process.
Most important characteristics of MSM powder:
- Intended to easily administer high doses of MSM
- Only pure MSM and no excipients
USE
Dissolve 2 measuring spoons 1 to 4 times a day in water or fruit juice. One level measuring spoon equals approximately 0.6 grams of powder. It is important to spread the intake as evenly as possible throughout the day to achieve a balanced absorption. A measuring spoon is included.
