The amber colour, rich taste comes from SAP production early in the Maple production season. Compared to refined sugar and other sweeteners such as agave syrup or honey, Maple syrup provides more essential nutrients such as calcium, potassium, zinc, manganese and riboflavin (vitamin B2).
