Bionutri® is a UK supplement company founded in 2007 by Robert Joy, working alongside naturopath John Stirling, whose formulation experience in the health food industry goes back to the 1980s. Rather than isolating single nutrients, Bionutri combines vitamins, minerals, herbal extracts, probiotics and amino acids into targeted formulas designed to support specific body systems.

The range includes an "Eco" and "Dophilus" family of gut and organ-support formulas (EcoDophilus, Ecobalance, Ecogest, Dermadophilus for skin, HepaDophilus for the liver, ImmunoDophilus for immune support), alongside standalone formulas such as CardiOmega Plus for heart and circulation, Carotone for skin and eye support, Magnesium Complex Plus (using magnesium malate, citrate and ascorbate rather than the cheaper oxide form), and Elderberry Complex for immune support, including a chewable version for children.

What's the difference between Bionutri's "Eco" and "Dophilus" formulas?
The Eco range (EcoDophilus, Ecobalance, Ecogest) focuses on general digestive and gut microbiome support. The Dophilus formulas pair live cultures with nutrients targeted at a specific organ or system, such as Dermadophilus for skin, HepaDophilus for the liver, and ImmunoDophilus for immune support.

Why does Magnesium Complex Plus use malate, citrate and ascorbate instead of magnesium oxide?
These forms are generally better absorbed by the body than magnesium oxide, a cheaper but less bioavailable form commonly used in standard supplements.

Is Bionutri suitable for vegetarians?
Many Bionutri formulas are vegetarian, including CT Plex, which uses a vegetarian source of glucosamine instead of the more common shellfish-derived form. It's worth checking the individual product label, as this varies by formula.
