Maintaining normal levels of homocysteine, a metabolic byproduct, is associated with both cardiovascular and cognitive health. Folate, a B vitamin, helps maintain homocysteine levels already within normal range. However, not everyone can efficiently convert folate to its biologically active form. LE's formula provides 5-MTHF, so you don’t have to.

Folic acid is the most common form of folate supplements. Once ingested, your body is supposed to convert folic acid, a synthetic version of folate, into 5-methyltetrahydrofolate, or 5-MTHF.
