Specialist Herbal Supplies (SHS) UK

Specialist Herbal Supplies (SHS) formulates traditional Western herbal remedies based on the work of Dr John Christopher, the American herbalist and naturopath whose formulas have been used for over 50 years. Founder Malcolm Simmonds trained directly with Dr Christopher before bringing these formulations to the UK.

The range spans single herbs (astragalus, cat's claw, dandelion root, ashwagandha, cayenne) and traditional compound formulas built around specific body systems, including digestion and the colon (Cascara Compound, Cape Aloe Compound), detoxification (Detox Drops, Clay & Pectin Blend), the nervous system (Nve Capsules), and circulation (Cayenne Capsules).

SHS formulas follow the traditional herbal combinations developed by Dr John Christopher, an American herbalist known for compound formulas built around supporting specific organs and body systems rather than single-herb products.

What's the difference between Cascara Compound, Cape Aloe Compound and Cascara & Buckthorn Capsules?
All three are traditionally used to support regular bowel function using different herb combinations. Cascara Compound is the original Dr Christopher formula, Cape Aloe Compound uses cape aloe as its base ingredient, and Cascara & Buckthorn adds detox-supporting herbs like dandelion and red clover.
