Vitamin D

Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin produced in the skin on exposure to ultraviolet B (UVB) sunlight, and also obtained in small quantities from dietary sources such as oily fish, eggs, and fortified foods. In the UK and other northern latitudes, UVB levels are insufficient for skin synthesis during autumn and winter months, making supplementation a widely used and recommended option. Vitamin D supplements are available in two principal forms: D3 (cholecalciferol), derived from animal sources or lichen (for vegan products), and D2 (ergocalciferol), which is plant-derived. D3 is the more commonly supplemented form. Products in this collection are available across a wide range of strengths from 400 IU (10mcg) through to 50,000 IU (1,250mcg), in capsule, tablet, softgel, liquid drop, and oral spray formats.
