Wise Owl UK | Food State Vitamins & Minerals
Wise Owl Health's food state approach was brought to the UK by co-founder Eric Llewellyn around 40 years ago, and the range has been built on that foundation ever since. Rather than isolating a nutrient on its own, food state supplements deliver it within a food matrix, in the form the body would encounter it in whole food, which the brand states allows for close to full absorption and utilisation compared with many synthetic alternatives.
The range covers individual vitamins and minerals (including Vitamin D3, Selenium, Magnesium and GTF Chromium), everyday multivitamins and B complex formulas, and targeted blends for specific needs such as Joint and Bone Support, Pregnancy Support, and a Sleep Formula combining nutrients with KSM-66® Ashwagandha.
What does "food state" mean?
Food state supplements deliver a nutrient within a food matrix, alongside other naturally occurring food factors, rather than as an isolated compound, designed to mirror how the body would encounter the nutrient in whole food.
Are all Wise Owl products food state?
Most are, but not all. Some products, like Karoshil or Rhodiola Plus, are standard herbal or nutrient formulas rather than food state. Individual product descriptions indicate which formulation type applies.
Is Wise Owl suitable for children?
Yes, Wise Owl produces a dedicated Children's Multivitamin and Mineral formula in a smaller tablet size, suitable for children aged four and over.
