Seeking Health’s L-methylfolate contains 1,700 mcg DFE of methylfolate in the bioavailable form of L-5-methyltetrahydrofolate (L-5-MTHF).
The bioactive form of L-methylfolate (L-5-MTHF) is well-utilized in the methylation cycle. It is often the preferred form for those with methylation, homocysteine, or MTHFR gene mutation concerns.
Mutations in your MTHFR gene can lead to reduced L-methylfolate production and a less functional methylation cycle. Challenges in the methylation cycle are associated with an increased risk for cardiovascular and mood issues, birth defects, and infertility concerns.
Mutations in this gene can also slow your body’s ability to convert folate into its active forms. Thus, a large majority of people may benefit from consuming an L-methylfolate dietary supplement.
