Probiotics

Probiotics are live microorganisms, primarily bacteria and yeasts, that are consumed in sufficient quantities to colonise or transit through the gastrointestinal tract. The principal genera used in probiotic supplements are Lactobacillus, Bifidobacterium, and Streptococcus, along with the beneficial yeast Saccharomyces boulardii, which is distinct from bacterial probiotics and is often used alongside antibiotic courses or travel. Probiotic products are described by their strains (the specific bacterial variety), their potency in colony forming units (CFU), and their delivery system. This collection brings together probiotic supplements across the full spectrum, from everyday multi-strain formulas of 5 to 30 billion CFU, through to high-potency specialist formulas of 100 to 500 billion CFU such as VSL#3, Vivomixx, and Proven Biotics Professional.
